This week's Challenge at Tuesday Alchemy is Random words. They are  Bath, Duct tape and Sparrow.

BATHTIME DOOR HANGER

you will need the following recipe ingredients

Gold and Purple Card

Crafters Companion S.W.A.L.K ,'Time Out' Stamp

Spellbinders Fancy ovals die set

Spellbinders banners die set

Gold dotted Acetate

'Ranger' clear Glaze

Cuttlebug embossing folder -bubbles

Gold peel off letters and corner stickers

Gold paper candie buttons

large ribbon bow

Spectrem Noirs/ Any good Alcohol pens to colour



Start your project by cutting a large rectangle with a hole at the top of it out of gold card and then a slightly smaller one out of the purple.

stamp and colour your 'bathtub' image I used Alcohol pens but you can use any medium you would like. Glaze your bubbles with the Ranger glaze and leave to dry overnight for the best results

Run your Acetate through your die cutting / Embossing machine  inside a 'bubbles' cuttlebug folder and mount onto the purple card. Add peel off corners at this stage. Cut yourself a gold fancy oval die and mount your coloured image onto the centre of the die. Mount this onto your door hanger shape

Cut out 2 banner dies and stick on your hanger below your coloured image Add some gold letters to one of the cut out banners dies and spell out the word 'OCCUPIED' so when your door hanger is outside the bathroom hanging on the door knob, the kids know NOT TO COME IN!!

Decorate the 'hole' with some a gold peel off border and some gold Paper Candie buttons and add your bow and there you have it . A pretty and useful item that may buy you, all, at least 10 minutes peace and quiet in the tub!!

Hard Hats and High Heels

The day started pretty much like most days this week with fog and rain and so the options on what to do were getting slim. The housework had been done over the weekend and anyway its housework there's always something better to do than that!!!

For a change from my usual routine I thought I'd put my hard-hat on (health and Safety rules!!) and do a little construction work.  One of my passions is creating model gifts for fun. So without a ink pad or Alcohol pen in sight I started on my latest project. and here it is... A SHOE!!

This idea came from chatting to hubby about the need and love women had for shoes. How it was universal and probably genetic in some way as no matter who you are or what you do for a living you will always stop and turn your head if you see a sexy pair of heels . As some of you already know I spend a look of time in the company of  big butch tattooed hairy bikers (and that's just the girls,) They look mean and menacing (still the girls) but show them a pair of Jimmy Choo's or New Rocks and they melt like butter!!

If you would like to make one of these you will need the following

Black Card
Gold Card
 A shoe Template ( I created my own )
Gold and black ribbon
Gold card candies
paper flowers
butterfly embellishment
Silver plastic chain
Acetate box
Sentiments labels
double sided sticky
glue gun


  First you will need to cut out your basic shoe shapes you can download a template from the Internet if you don't fancy doing 'it by eye' so to speck but you will be stuck with their choice of shoe and it's not rocket science, the shapes are all roughly the same. you can tweek them with your scissors as you go.

 Cut a half moon for the back of the shoe and a rectangle for the heel . 2 insteps and half an oval for the toe end, you can always just cut a rectangle for the toe end if you like and make your shoes sandals!!

 Cut 1 '' extra on the toe and back shapes and cut 'crocodile teeth into them so when you fold them round the 1st instep they don't crease. when heel end and toe end are fixed to 1st instep, cover workings with 2nd instep.



 

 When you make your heel. cut out a rectangle and score into 5 equal sections. Score 1/2'' across the top and bottom and cut into score lines 1/2 inch deep each end. Fold into long rectangular heel and stick with strong double sided tape tuck in ends and stick down. Add to bottom of instep with glue gun . Take your strip of black card  and stick inside the heel end on both sides, then decorate with card candies they look like studs or buttons I love them. I've added ribbon and Silver chain and Gold card strips up the heel but you can do whatever you what to yours, the Principal is the same. when you have finish decorating your shoe stick on some gold card and make yourself an Acetate box to protect it from the elements and little children and place inside for safe keeping. This one will eventually find its way to somebody as a birthday keepsake or a attention grabber on my summer craft stall .

Away with the Autumn fairies...

Morning folks

Well the winds are blowing and its pouring with rain outside , monsoon season has returned and with it the usual sniffles and  snotty noses!! The whole house has been sneezing and spluttering germs like its going out of fashion, myself included!!

So it seemed only appropriate to make a tissue box for today's project. They don't require a great deal of brain power of which I am lacking of this morning as they are simply  a box with a lid with a slit in it!! How you decorate them is your choice I've gone with fairies this time round as I have a get well card already done in that style

The card was made using a Crafters Companion stamp from the Fairyopolis range. 'She' has been coloured in with a selection of Pro markers and Spectrum Noirs and cut out with a Spellbinders die. I made a brown glitter frame and added some paper flowers to the corner and a bow and sentiment above.  The most enjoyable part of this card was making the backing paper/card that 'she' sits upon so I thought I might share that technique with you today, It's reasonably easy,  if you follow the steps you should be able to recreate a similar pattern and style.

For the backing paper you will need

White card
A plastic floral mask
distressing inks
silver embossing powder
versamark ink pad
blending tool
Embossing machine i.e. Cuttlebug, Grand Calibur

Step one
First take some white card and a floral or leafy plastic mask. Ink up the mask using a versa mark sticky ink pad and lay the card over it then run this through your embossing/die-cutting machine. I used my Grand Calibur for this as the mask I used was quite large.

Step 2
Carefully remove mask from card and cover embossed (and now sticky) indents with silver embossing powder. I used one from Papermania called silver tinsel which has a very high shiny finish for an embossing powder

Step 3
Gently tap off the excess powder and then heat with a heat gun from underneath till all the powder has melted then leave to cool

Step 4
Ink all over your card with different distressing inks I used Tim Holts 'Fired Brick' red, Pine Needles and 'Peeled Paint' greens . The now embossed silver leaves will act as a resist and so you can ink over the top of them. Cut your finished patterned paper to the required size using your paper trimmer or guillotine and matt your fairy image onto it

As for the box , I just coloured some more of the fairies from the Fairyopolis collection and stuck them to the four sides . To decorate  the lid (after cutting a slot in the top)  I added some corners then added some large peach paper flowers made from a marianne 'posy' die and put glitter glue around the edges I finished with a butterfly in the corner and wrapped some ribbon and lace around the outside of the lid to add interest.

Now that's finished I can go off and take 2 paracetamol, have for a hot lemsip , and a cosy sit down by the fire for 10 minutes ...

Annabelles Gifts

Hi folks
well there's only 68 more sleeps to Christmas so best get some cards ready to send. This months project are to include contemporary colours and so I have used a lot of purple and silver as I have be told by my university student daughter that they are the 'in' colours of the moment!!

Here's a card designed using contemporary colours and the 'Annabelle with Gifts' Stamp from wild Rose Studio . The image was a dream to stamp and is clear and crisp. I used a selection of pro marker pens to colour this in and decorated round the image with glittered snowflakes and flowers hope you like it.




you will need

Marianne designs snow flake die
white card
Tim Holts 'dusty concord distressing ink

Green, red and purple card
blank base card

Step one
Stamp and colour your image , I used a blender pen with pro markers but Spectrum Noirs or Copics will do a fantastic job of this too. I used 'Almond' for the face and 'lilac, amethyst, and berry red for the hat and dress, Cool grey 1, and ice grey 4 for the fur and lemon, mint green berry red for the presents .

Step 2
when your image is coloured, cut out some purple card and mount and cut out some leafy dies in purple and green card using the largest die (for the purple die-cut I had to cut this in 2 diagonal) and put on your base card

step 3
Decorate the corners, I cut out some Marianne designs snow flake dies and covered them in Stampendous silver halo glitter and added a little purple flower and added some silk flowers in the bottom right corner
step 4
Stamp out your sentiment and cut out the smaller of the and Spellbinders leafy square dies then softy dust the die cut while it is still in the die with Tim Holts 'dusty concord distressing ink and add to the card

All Hallow's Eve

Well for all you ghouls and ghostie lovers not long to wait now.
something to look forward to, darkness will soon be upon us and the creatures of the night will rise!!
 
Dont forget to dress up real scary as   the more gruesome you look during  the Halloween holiday, the more you will get to stuff  your faces with candy!!

 Most of us have been guilty at one time or another of dressing our little cherubs up as monsters and shoving them up the neighbours garden path or worst still, dressing up oursleves to go to a friends party, getting the bus there, that was always fun!! So now its my turn to get the doorbell rung all evening and to smile sweetly as I fill someone else's child with sugar and E numbers !!!

 Here's a candy box I made from a plain card gift box , I covered it in black card to make it nice and rigid and decorated with some Halloween papers from a Serif Halloween 2011 digikit, the leaves and foliage were cut using a festive greenery sizzix die and my pumpkin was again Serif. The moon was just a circle cut from plain white card stock and edged with a Tim holts distressing ink pad dusty concord ,  and the letters were left over from a forever friends set. I had to ink them up in brown pigment ink and emboss with thick embossing powder a few times to get them to have that enamelled look . Finally add a bat, some gold paper candies and a ribbon and you have a ghoulisous little gift box for the local horrible monsters/kids/Adults to dip into and 'treat' themselves from..

dont forget to line your box with some orangery red 'blood stained' tissue paper and silver 'spiders webbing'...

Of course if the sign I've left on the door saying ' Sick baby sleeping , please do not knock' works for yet another year I may not get any visitors on the 30th October and I may have to eat all the goodies myself!! meh ha ha ha.....Trick or treat ??

Hoglets on Ice

Here's a sweet little image you don't see every day , Hedgehogs wearing ice skates!! Personally I favour the roller blade but each to their own...

 

These little fellers can be found up to all sorts of antics all year which is a little weird because during the winter they should be in hibernation !!! Baby hedgehogs are called Hoglets and are very cute but best left alone if found as mum is normally close by. They are usually born around June and July and stay with mum for the first 3 months. If you know you have hedgehogs visit your garden, think twice about putting out slug pellets as they will poison a young hog and always check your bonfire in November as they will see this as a great place to sleep out the winter

WHO ARE YOU......

 

 Here's another card again using a penny Black stamp . Its from the 'In the garden' set and can be found at J and Creations Website in their Penny Black Stamps section. This time its that rather well fed tomcat, he reminds me of Harry , the third flatmate at my daughters home. Hes looking a little concerned as he's not quite sure who or what is sitting on his tail!!! he was coloured with my Pro-markers and Spectrum Noirs and mounted onto a selection of patterned circles , then decorated up with some paper flowers I quick and easy card to do. have to be totally honest here I really need to make something that wasn't festive today think I'm going a little 'Santa snowflakes' Crazy!!!!!!

Time to get Busy...

Only 73 days left to go so time to really get stuck into the festive mood. Have done a few bits of christmas shopping already. Like to go down to boots on Jan 2nd and snap up all the unwanted christmas gifts at 75% off , and have been picking a few bits up through the year. Sainsburys are selling really pretty mugs with robins and santa's on them and have been on the shelves for a few weeks now so I have bought a couple and stuffed them with Quality Street sweeties (other sweets are available he he) I put them in celo bags and tied up with pretty ribbon, total cost about £4 each. be aware you can't get a half a box of sweets in a mug so you may have to eat a few to make room. Its a tough job but someones got to do it!! with a mug of coffee helps !!


Also making a start on the christmas baubles for the tree thought it might be nice to have some that my cat can't destroy though I'm sure she will give it her best shot!!

They're a doddle to make, just go down to your local craft shop and purchase some polystyrene balls, mark and cut into segments. Cut 3 cm deep into them with a craft knife until they look like a satsuma , the balls I bought already had the lines marked on them when they were mounded. I picked up a pack of 6 patterned martial strips (or fat quarters some people know them as)  to cover them with.

When you have made the cuts push some of your cotton patterned material into the grooves and trim close to the edges when this is done push all martial in till joins are hidden. These baubles require no sewing or gluing to complete and you can make around a dozen baubles using 6 fat quarters of Christmas print and still have some over

when the ball was totally covered I made a loop from some ribbon and pinned that on the top with a gold brad and added some gold glitter dots to make them sparkle on the tree

I went with the more traditional colours of red and green and white as my tree this year is going to be in that style. The beauty of making your own decorations is you can colour co-ordinate to your hearts content. If your tree is going to be purple do purple and gold balls , If your room is beige you can make your baubles in cream and gold to match its surroundings or go goth get some skull fabric and decorate your tree with ghouls in black and red!!! The world is your lobster as they say....

Here's my card for today, its a circle card in green and silver and has been made using the spellbinders dies 'fanciful holidays' for the reindeer and Marianne designs dies for the sleigh the 'snowflakes are cut from Spellbinders Persian motifs die set and the sentiment is from  Penny Black . I have used Tim Holts Distress ink 'Pine needles' to stamp the sentiment and colour tint the sleigh ,reindeer and snowflakes. There is a scattering of comic shimmer 'Iced crystals' glitter round the large circle and some under the sleigh .

Man's best friend....

He's a little pup just waiting to open his prezzies on his special day, only problem is he's not sure how to do it . Any dog owner has seen this look a thousand times , dogs are so adorable and this little guy is no different. 

This card was stamped using 'Party Time 'from by Cling Stamps by Helz Cuppleditch and was coloured in with Pro markers and Specrum Noirs . I made a purchase last week and have topped up my collection of Alochol pens quite considerably

To make this card you will need
14cm x14cm base card
Party time Stamp
Licac feathers
Spellbinders fleur de lis square die
 Paper doily
Alcohol pens

Black and white card

Step 1
First stamp your image and colour it with the pens of your choice, I used alchol pens but watercolour penciels or even distress ink pens will do a great job

Step 2
Matt and layer onto some purple patterned paper then black card and then onto your base card

Step 3
matt and layere the image onto a Spellbinders Fleur de lis square and a paper lace doily and add some licac feathers to give a softer feel to the card.  flowers, leaves and a bow in the corner and a sentiment at the top and there you have it a sweet little card to please any dog lover from a best friend x

Fantasy Christmas ..

Heres a few of my Cd cards made from my fantasy Cd by Gems Designs

 

 

I love Gems Designs . I don't do a lot of cd crafting any more mainly because my Computer printer drinks ink like Aunty Glady does Vodka at Christmas!! With Gems designs I make the exception as I adore their images and they make up beautiful cards. I could never just print and go so all my cards get blinged up  even the CD ones are hybrids with crafty add ons . These fabulous images double up for christmas and for winter birthdays and I know of a few young ladies that would adore a card this year made in this style, my niece loves her unicorns and loves all things horsey and fantasty so she will be first on my list to make for.

Hybrid crafting is a popular favorite with a lot of crafters that find stamping a chore and before I discovered the joys of stamps I did a lot of this style of crafting . It conbines the love of paper craft with some fantasic images now available on the
 market from CD roms and you can not fail to p
roduce a lovely card.

A Christmas Kiss.....

J and C Creations have a fantastic range of Stamps for you to choose from and Penny Black this is no exception. The stamping quality is second to none and I love working with their new Christmas range. Today's Card was made using the Slapstick Christmas kiss Stamp. I thought it might be nice to make her part of a Easel Card . These are very easy to make, just take a regular card and fold the front panel again so it folds back on its self . That's the basic just remember to put a 'stopper' of some kind at the front or your easel card will keep sliding down!! as you can see from the photo I've used a large snowflake to do this job.

You will need

To colour in the image I used a mixture of Pro markers and Spectrum Noir alcohol pens.
At the moment the Pro markers out number the Spectrum Noirs in my craft room 4-1 but I am hoping to change this in the next few months as I love the results from the Spectrum Noirs more so have invested in some more colours to enhance my work

Step 1
Create your topper
Stamp and colour your Slapstick Christmas kiss Stamp.
To Colour the little girl the pens I used
Face/flesh- Promarkers Almond, Satin and Dusky Pink
Hair - Honey comb. and Cocoa
Bauble- Crimson ,berry red and lemon
Background - Pastel Beige
Dress - Spectrum Noirs CG1,CG2,DG2,DG3,DG4,JG6

Step 2
when the image was coloured I used some Ranger Glossy Accents on the bauble to make it 3d . I applied 3 times allowing for the vanish to dry each time , on the 2nd application I sprinkled in some gold glitter to give it that encapsulated sparkle look. she also has a couple of gems where here berries would be and a star in her hair and some more gold glitter on her dress to add a little interest. When this is completely dry cut 'her' out I've mounted her onto a red Fleur de lis square die cut and some Acetate inside a silver ring and put her on my easel card

Step 3
Stamp your Penny Black Sentiment using Tim Holts Distressig ink pad 'Fired brick' onto a small square piece of white card and dust round the egdes lightly then matt and layer onto some silver holograpic card. Tuck your sentiment under 'her' skirt and glue in place

Step 4
Cut out 2 corners using the marianne Corners die in red card and place on the bottom corners. make up some Snow flakes using your Create a flake spellbinders die set and marianne designs snowflake set and some white card top these with silver and gold paper candie dots. glue onto front of card .

Step 5
Create the base of your card by cutting some red, Silver and white card in slightly graduating sizes starting with the white and getting larger as you go finishing with the silver. Run the white card
through an M-bossibilities folder and then matt and layer . stick this to the base of your card and add a large snowflake as your stopper. This card will fold flat into an envelope if you wish to post it xx

Through the window Christmas eve...

With Christmas looming on the horizon I thought it might be a good idea to get a few christmas cards under my belt so here's a window card make from the windows template on sale now at the J and C Creations website. I must say you get a lot in this pack for the money not just 6 die cut windows but matching card blanks and acetate to complete your project for a few pounds. I found it very easy to assemble and I liked the fact it came in different colours .

Silver and white card

First I used the Penny Black 'Joy filled Christmas' Stamp for the children at the fire place image which I coloured in with my trusty pro-markers and the sentiment which I embossed in silver on white card. I used the Annabelle paper pack to make the wallpaper, carpet and christmas tree inside and decorated the tree with coloured pearls from the self-adhesive crystal pearls range. I glued on some Cosmic shimmer Glitter jewels to decorate the outside of the widows and I embossed the woodgrain on the window frame with Creative expressions windows accents stamp set , green glitter Stampendous embossing powder and a versa mark pad. The poinsettias were cut using the Spellbinders Poinsettia layers , this is a favourite die of mine at christmas time and looks lovely in white parchment paper. The swirls were from an old set by spellbinders called fanciful holidays. I used white crystal pearls as berries on the swirls. why not check out the huge range of spellbinders on the J and C Creations website there are loads of new designs coming into stock soon.

     I used a leafy mask from the 'a touch of' range on some white card and embossed though my Grand calibur machine then inked it up with some Tim Holts green distressing ink 'peeled paint'. making sure to give the corners so extra and then shade lighter towards the middle dont worry about inking inside the frame as this is going to be hidden by the stamped image. there is a huge range of distressing  inks  by Tim Holts and those and the inking tool can be found on the J and C Creations website . why dont you pop over sometime and have a look at all the wonerful items they have to help with your crafting. when the leafy card was done I matted it on to some pink gingham and then onto a base card

 The stamp is found the S.W.A.L.K collection by Crafters Companion and comes with a different saying but I thought ' If friends were flowers . I picked you...' was more appropriate to the card. I have used a combination of Spectrum noirs and Pro markers to colour in and have edged the image with some pretty lace . The flowers are made using a die from new crexions range and the leaves are made from a christmas Spellbinders set layered Poinsetta.with white vellam paper. The flowers had been made earlier in the week.I always have a few made up spare in Pink or Purple and then I just decorate with some co ordernating coloured jewels in the middle when I use them on a card. Today I went for a diamond jewel as there was plenty of pink going on already. I finished up with some pearls in the corners

Poppies on Pink

Poppies are incredibly popular at the moment , Apart from being a pretty plant they represent those lost in the Armed forces . The Royal British Legion use them as their emblem So this card will appeal to many people.

My poppies are painted using Tim Holt's 'Fired Brick' Red Distressing Ink on the flowers and 'Pine Needles' and 'Peeled Paint' Green for the stems.The Sentiment was coloured and Stamped with Tim Holts 'Aged Mahogany' Distressed ink pad. I added the image onto a gold picot egde Circles die cut and then onto some pretty pink pattened papers and added some gold glitter butterflies to embellish.

I love to make cards but I'm no way an artist and rarely paint anything ,so this was totally out of my comfort zone, still I think its turned out ok. All items highlighted can be found on the J & C Creations website why not pop over and check them all out

Mimosa Christmas Tree

Here's a little Christmas card made using the 'Mimosa Christmas Tree' Stamp by Bildmalarna

I used
14 cm x14cm Grey Card blank
Tim Holts Distressing Inks
Spellbinders labels 20 Die
Spellbinders floral oval Die
Gold and yellow coloured card
Green pattened card
Sentiment

I first stamped the image with a black versafine pad and I then embossed with some clear embossing powder, that way the colours don't bleed into each other. If I were using pro markers I like the momento Tuxedo black ink pad for my stamping projects as this does not react to the alcohol pens
I used Tim holts Distressing inks,' Fired brick,' pine needles' and 'Mustard Seed' to colour the stamped images, with a little water added they become a very nice watercolour paint , just dab the ink pad on an old tile or plate and add tiny amounts of water as they are very juicy to start with. A good paint brush is also essential. when the painting was done I added some clear glitter to highlight the hat, cuffs and boots and dusted the outside of the spellbinders shape labels 20 using a ink blending tool with a Tim holts Pine needles Distressing Ink. I then matt and layered onto a spellbinders Floral oval die, cut from some green and gold embossed card.I Added 3 layers of edged card and patterned paper with some snow flakes and a sentiment to finish, mine has bells on!!
